The Discovering of Carmen Selves
The painter Empar Díaz and her husband Ferran Hurtado who was also a writer, was both masters of drawing and painting of Carmen Selves since 1947 taking over from the teachings of his mother. Empar knew Carmen because Carmen won a prize in a painting contest in a exhibition in Manresa when she was fourteen years old. You can see, between the books, one of the oil pictures painted by C.Selves 1940 when she was 9 years old.

In this school Carmen Selves made two friends, artists too: Marta Estrada and Maria Estruc. Unfortunatelly she gone very young. We always can list and remember them. Later, in 1980, Selves graduated in Fine Arts with a thesis on the Luïsa Vidal painter
